Dear Fairy Godmother #2

"Dear Fairy Godmother,
I really want to start making cosplays but I don't know where to start. I've always attended events like Comic Con but I've never dressed up and I feel out of place. Do you have any advice?
- Anonymus"

Dear Reader,

I've only attended Comic Con once, and so this one happening right now (May 2016) is in fact my second time and first time in costume, so I know exactly how you feel! Making a cosplay can be very stressful, especially if you've never been taught how to sew let alone cut patterns or arrange everything together. Luckily I studied Textiles at GCSE and A-Level so I have a bit of experience, but not enough.

Before I jump in with some tips and all, I thought I'd jump in with some of my favourite Cosplays...

(Elsa, Anna, myself and Sven and Olaf from Frozen)

(Kuzco, myself and Yzma from The Emperor's New Groove)

(Myself, Queen Regina and Serenna from the TV series Once Upon A Time)

Now, time for my tips and tricks on creating your very own cosplay!

1. YouTube Tutorials are the way forward. I remember being young and obsessed with this Mermaid game to the point where I wanted to be one. So I looked up a tutorial and before you know it, I had my own tail!

(My first attempt at an Ariel cosplay, will probably try again once my skills have improved!

2. Take up some sewing or dress making classes, nothing ever hurt finding a new hobby! There's bound to be plenty around where you live, so don't be scared to try it out.

3. If you find it easier, you can always make a cosplay out of pre-made pieces of clothing. Got a super cool little blue dress and a apron, well grab yourself a blonde wig and you could be Alice in Wonderland for a day!

Do you have any tips or tricks for people new to cosplay? Well leave a comment down below so we can help each other!
