'The Black Pearl' Candle by Maple & Whisky

Image
"Yo ho, yo ho - a pirates life for me..." Ever since I was little, my favourite ride has always been the Pirates of the Caribbean ride in Disneyland Paris. I've been obsessed with the franchise since I was about nine, when I was given all the films for Christmas.  When I heard a Etsy shop by the name of Maple and Whisky were creating Disney-inspired candles, I jumped at the chance to purchase one.  And so I did! I decided to treat myself to their newest candle, The Black Pearl . As pictured above, I bought myself the smaller addition in the 8oz jar (larger being 12oz) for only £8.30. All candles are handmade to order, and the company gives you the option of two different wicks and waxes.  I got mine custom made with a woodwick and a paraffin soy blend wax. The paraffin soy blend wax gives the candle a really powerful fragrance which makes the musky scent even more alluring and tasteful.  " You've seen a ship with black sails, th...

Dear Fairy Godmother #2

Image
"Dear Fairy Godmother, I really want to start making cosplays but I don't know where to start. I've  always  attended events like Comic Con but I've never dressed up and I feel out of  place. Do you have any advice? - Anonymus" Dear Reader, I've only attended Comic Con once, and so this one happening right now ( May 2016 ) is in fact my second time and first time in costume, so I know exactly how you feel! Making a cosplay can be very stressful, especially if you've never been taught how to sew let alone cut patterns or arrange everything together. Luckily I studied Textiles at GCSE and A-Level so I have a bit of experience, but not enough.  Before I jump in with some tips and all, I thought I'd jump in with some of my favourite Cosplays... (Elsa, Anna, myself and Sven and Olaf from Frozen ) (Kuzco, myself and Yzma from The Emperor's New Groove ) (Myself, Queen Regina and Serenna from the TV series Once Upon A Tim...

Disney Cosplay Bucketlist

Image
There's something about dressing up and pretending to be someone you not which just inspires creation and adventure. As you may know, I'm attending Comic Con at the end of this week on the Saturday the 28th and Sunday the 29th, and you can bet your little cotton socks I'll look nothing the usual. Yes, that right I've made a cosplay.  This year, on the Saturday I'll be cosplaying as Belle from ' Beauty and the Beast ' with a romantic-gothic twist, and on the Sunday I'll be Disney-Bounding as Eve from ' Walle '. It's safe to say, I am very excited. I'll be  attending  the Disney Cosplay Meet Up on both days, so if you see me, come and say hi! Although this year is some what planned out, I do have some cosplay's I'm simply dying to create!  Coming in at NUMBER THREE we have Maximus! Nah! I'm just kidding, it's Rapunzel. As many of you are sure to know Tangled my favourite Disney film of all time an...

Convention Tips & Tricks

With MCM Comic Con  hastily  approaching, it's time to iron your outfits and patch up those holes, it's convention time. As someone who has been to only four conventions in her  whole  life, I'd like to think I'm rather new to this! However, I've learnt some tips and tricks for  making  your time most delight!  Over the past year I've been to HyperJapan twice, Summer in the City once, MCM Comic Con (in London) once in October 2015. That's a whole lot of walking around, bumping into random strangers and spending way, way too much money. Although these tips can apply to almost EVERY convention, today I'm specifically talking about Comic Con. Without further ado, let's get on with it... DO remember to preplan stuff in advance.  The amount of times I've woken up at 11am when the convention doors opened at 10am is unbelievable, and its not just me ( *cough* Serenna *cough* HyperJapan *cough* ). The day before is just as important as the...

Disney Society Fundraiser

Ah, so the day has arrived, I'm currently sat in bed attempting to prepare myself for tonight. Tonight the Roehampton Disney Society are putting on a bake sale and quiz to raise money to help fund our tickets to go see Aladdin.  I've never been the most confident person, I was actually rather shy growing up. However, becoming President of the Roehampton Disney Society has encouraged me to do things I'd never thought I would, like host our Disney Quiz alongside our Vice President, Izzy.  This means tonight I'll be given a microphone and I'll be entertaining a crowd of gosh knows how many. A worry of mine is that no-one will show up and it'll just be me and Izzy and a lot of cupcakes.  My dear, last night I was baking cupcakes and brownies from 4pm till late, we now have almost fifty yummy delights to sell today. Hopefully we'll sell them all... Fun fact though, don't mistake icing sugar for cake mixture, icing sugar doesn't bake like cake...

RSU Awards Evening

Image
Hi there my lovelies, welcome back to my blog. Today I fancied just a chatty little post about what I got up to today! ( Hence why it's been so lately uploaded! ) As you may or may not know, I'm just completing my final year at University of Roehampton in London. I study Media, Culture and Identity and in my spare time I'm a part of the community of students. You may be wondering from the title, but 'RSU' stands for 'Roehampton Student Union' and tonight they were hosting Award Evening to celebrate all the talented souls of the university.  What was I doing there I hear you ask?  Back in February, I founded the Roehampton Disney Society, no big shocker there, I am a little bit of a fan to say the least. Since the start, I've also become the President and created many different socials and events for the students of Roehampton to enjoy!  I was informed a couple of weeks ago, that the Roehampton Disney Society had been nominated for an awa...

Dear Fairy Godmother #1

Image
Dear Reader, As it's the first official week of ' Dear Fairy Godmother ' I thought I'd kick it off with a  little bit of motivational support for all of you to embrace! With the sun having shone through my windows the past couple of days, I feel inspired and motivated to create some amazing things. I mean, you've probably all seen my new schedule for blog posts and youtube videos? As well as all this, I've been busy baking and sewing amazing little treats such as Disneyland inspired Churros and my own Belle cosplay for MCM Comic Con this year. All hands on deck at the moment! However, I know this won't last for long. To stay so motivated and inspired all the time, takes it out of you and too much can make you sad. Alas, there is no point in giving up!  Summer is fast approaching, soon we shall have sunshine all over and plenty of time on our hands. I know how tempting it can be to lounge around all day and sleep for a hundred years ( trust m...

Ways to React to Cat Callers

Are you sick of the wolf whistles and "SLUT" yelled from a passing car? Yeah? Doesn't surprise me one bit. We're all sick. I asked you all on Twitter what it was that had made your heads turn in disgust, 25% of you said it was the derogative term "slut" and 75% of you said it was the wolf whistles. Alas, this world is filled with less gentlemen and more villains. Even the thugs in Tangled know how to treat a lady better! Next time you hear the sound of men down the street calling you out, here's a few replies that are sure to turn heads instead... SCENARIO ONE (Scenario: You're walking down the street, minding your own business, when a group of ruffians appears.) VILLAIN: *wolf whistle* How you doing little lady? YOUR REPLY: Ladies can't start fights, but they can sure end them.  Yes that's right - use a cute little kitty-cat against them! Marie would be proud. SCENARIO TWO (Scenario: You're walking down...

Cute Disney Dates

Image
My life is  essentially 100% Disney and all my friends and family know that, that includes my love life. Now, I'm not asking for Prince Charming or a ruggish thief turned hero, but if my one true love does want a happily ever after with me, he'll have to accept the D. * insert suggest face * Disney, that is. Without further ado, here's my top five ideal Disney Dates! * cough-cough-hint-hint * Coming in at  NUMBER FIVE we have probably the simplest way to make me fall in love with you, but maybe the most expensive way and that is, Disneyland. Pretty simple, but I don't know what could be cuter than walking down Main Street USA holding hands, curl up into their arm-pit on Phantom Manor or taking cute photographs in front of the castle. Plus, I could easily kidnap him and hide him in the castle, forever... NUMBER FOUR Yet another very simple one, slightly less expensive then the last.  Comic Con.  B ack in the days when I first started up on Ins...

Disney Fanatics Reasons To STAY In the EU

You're probably reading this thinking, " how can a Disney fan have reasons to stay in the European Union? ", well I'm here to tell you!  The EU Referendum is set to take place on Thursday 23rd June and will determine whether we stay or whether we go. I'm hoping all you reading this are planning to vote 'STAY', if not, read till the end to hear me out... I expect you've heard all the pros and cons of the EU Referendum, but here's the view from the Internet Disney Princess . ~ As you probably know, if we - the UK - leave the EU, we will no longer be in Europe. If we're no longer in Europe, we're going to have to get VISAs, like America, which will not only take time but it may also take money.  So think about it, you'll have to wait longer to go to Disneyland Paris and it may even cost more, in that respects you'll have less time and possibly less money to go to Disneyland.  How ghastly is that!? ~ As a...

Underrated Disney Villains

Image
We all have a favourite villain, and we all know the classics, but who makes the list of most underrated Disney Villains? After searching high and low to find, what I thought were, the most underrated Disney Villains, I asked my followers on Twitter what they thought... NUMBER ONE Coming in at number one with 3/4 of the votes was Yzma from ' The Emperor's New Groove '. The film came out in the year 2000 making it one of the first films in the post renaissance era. Yzma has a ruthless disposition with a desire to achieve whatever she wants.  Favourite line in the film: NUMBER TWO Coming in at number two we have Clayton from ' Tarzan '. Tarzan came out in 1999 and was one of the last films in the Disney renaissance era. Clayton is a intrepid explorer, looking for Gorilla's, but when the hero of our film stands in his way, we see his true colours. Clayton by far, has the most darkest deaths in Disney history... NUMBER THREE Coming in j...

Nightmare in Disneyland

Image
I went to Disneyland on the 15th April. As you can guess, it didn't go to plan. ~ Once upon a time, two girls travelled twelve hours across land and sea to the land of the French, so we may reach our destination: Disneyland Paris. After a rather hectic journey, travelling through the night in a dreary minibus, we arrived at Disneyland at 11am. As we arrived, we stumbled upon Goofy's Garden Party and spring fever was filling our veins with excitement! We headed over to Adventureland first to become pirates on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride (one of my favourite rides!) and then met Peter Pan and Captain Hook. This is where my memory becomes fuzzy, but I shall recall what I've seen in my vlogs. After asking Peter the exact whereabouts of Neverland and learning the trick to flying, we headed over to the Chappell Theatre to see the Forest of Enchantment (staring Merida, Pocahontas and Rapunzel)! Shortly after we found our seats for Minnie's Little Spring Tr...
