Vote Leave = Death
Okay, okay. So political blog posts aren't really my thing, as you may have told from my rendition of Meghan Trainor's 'Dear Future Husband' - 'Dear David Cameron', but I do know a thing or two about the upcoming EU Referendum.
As you may have previously read my last blog post (Disney Fanatics Reasons To STAY In The EU), well here are some more points which have recently become an even stronger reason to vote STAY for me.
So you may know that my most recent adventure to Disneyland Paris ended in a horror story. I had to be rushed to hospital after having a seizure right outside Buzz Lightyear's Laser Blast (fun times, am I right?). When I got to the hospital I had to have head scans, blood tests, x-rays of my shoulder, as well as the fun of being on a heart machine.
(If you want to read more as to what happened to me, then here's a cheeky link to 'Nightmare in Disneyland'!)
Anyway, have you ever heard of an EHIC? I hope you have. EHIC stands for 'European Healthcare Insurance Card'. Now, this does not act as travel insurance nor will it be of any use in the case of private healthcare, but it will help cover you with state provided health care at a discounted rate (usually free).
Now, why is that important I hear you ask? Well, let me refer you back to the nightmare that happened to me in Disneyland. So, I had no travel insurance booked as I was a starving student who couldn't afford last months rent let alone travel insurance, but I did have my EHIC.
When this situation occurred, Serenna had to pay £150 for a private ambulance from the park to the hospital (which I paid her back with the £175 train home), but then as we had the EHIC all the blood tests, x-rays, head scans and heart monitors were all free because of it.
Now, call me crazy, but I'd rather have healthcare in Europe in case this ever happens again, than 0.05% (of the current budget) extra dollar on the NHS in the UK (which will probably be privatised soon enough anyway).
If you haven't already, please register to vote by Tuesday 7th June for the EU Referendum on 23rd June.
