Disney DIY: Little Tangled Lanterns
"I want to see the floating lights..."
A key quote without which our tale would have no adventure.
Welcome back to another wonderful week at Ramblings of the Internet's Disney Princess. Another day of dreams, another day of magic. Today, I'm going to let you into my secret as to how to make a little lantern from the Disney film Tangled.
As you all know, Tangled is my favourite Disney film of all time. I feel unbelievably connected to it. I'm connected to one thing in particular; it's the symbolism of the floating lanterns and the sun. So when I had this idea to make this little Disney DIY, how could I resist?!
Now to begin there's a couple of things you're going to need:
- the insides of toilet rolls
- acrylic paint
- colouring pens
- a black sharpie
- a pencil
- a pair of scissors
- and string
~ Step One ~
The first step to making your little lanterns is to paint your toilet roll the colour of your choice. You can do whatever colours you like! If you wish to match the colour scheme of Tangled you can use the well known purple and orange.
~ Step Two ~
Once your little lanterns are dry, your going to need to draw out (using pencil) your sun and sun petals. Once you're happy with it, you can go over the pencil with sharpie and then colour in the sun and sun petals with a colouring pen of your choice.
~ Step Three ~
Your little lantern is almost ready! But to make it float you will need to punch two holes at the top of the tube and thread through your string and tie in the middle of tube. Your little lantern is now ready to float with the stars!
Magic Tip:
As you can see I let my little lanterns hang from the ceiling attached to fake vines which are intwined with fairy lights to make it seem even more magical!
Want to see it in action?
I made a youtube tutorial which will show you how to make a little lantern step by step!
