Disney Bounding for Beginners
Hai hey 'ello, welcome back to my little corner of the Internet. It's me, Ellen, the Internet Disney Princess - and today I'm going to give you a 101 class on Disney Bounding and Cosplays. Without further ado, here we go...
DEFINITIONS
A very important place to begin as this will help determine what your outfit is...
COSPLAY:
the practice of dressing up as a character from a film, book or video game.
Cosplays originally come from Japanese culture and so most cosplays are of anime/manga characters. It's only been of the past couple of years other fandoms have taken the lead to cosplay as characters from films, books and video games.
DISNEY BOUND:
the practice of dressing in your everyday clothing with specific hints towards a Disney character.
Disney Bounding came about after people were told NOT to cosplay at Disney Parks due to character integrity and confusion to other guests. Due to this, more maturer fans of Disney have slyly got around this with Disney Bounding!
COS-BOUNDING:
a mix up of the two really!
Cos-bounding comes about when Disney fans decide to add something a little extra special to their Disney Bound which makes it more obvious they're outfit of the day was inspired by a character.
~
So now we know the difference, here's an example for you all!
Above we have a very clear cosplay photograph of myself as Ariel from The Little Mermaid. I would not be allowed to wear this into the park as (for one I cannot walk in that...) it's too similar to looking like the actual character.
Above we have an example of Disney Bounding/Cos-bounding. As you can see, I am wearing an Adorkable Apparel sea-shell crop top with shorts and mermaid leggings so I somewhat resemble Ariel from The Little Mermaid. The only thing I could have done to make this more Cos-bound that Disney Bound is if I had worn a red wig.
(Also, can we just give a little shout out to Spiderman?!)
~
Now you know the basics of Disney Bounding and the difference between it and Cos-bounding and Cosplaying. Now go, the world is full of imagination! Go experiment with your style and don't forget to send me photos! Tag me in them on Twitter and Instagram!
Catch you all next time, until then, stay magical!
Ellen
